Brief description of the project
On election day, the whole family goes to vote, including children and young people who have not yet reached voting age. Democracy Begins in the Family lets children and young people vote on questions regarding city development. The project urges young people to think about their voting power as a potential driver of change in the city, promotes the interest and involvement of children, young people, and adults in their local municipality, and opens an avenue of communication for the municipality to communicate with audiences of different ages. The project offers three different ballot types. The content of each ballot type is adapted to a different age group – its interests, comprehension abilities and capabilities of the municipality.
